Frequently Asked Questions
Coffee
It's a big pot of coffee shared with your party of D&D adventurers when they meet in a tavern, or some refreshing cold brew as you get together to terraform Mars, hang azulejos, or decrypt secret codenames. Maybe you're making a caramel latte before you lead your army of space marines into vicious battle—commanders like coffee, too.
In starting Many Worlds Tavern, we realized that tabletop gaming sessions with family and friends were some of the most important moments in our lives. We respect the humble game night as a place for fun, relaxation, in-person connection, healthy competition, and limitless imagination. We wanted to bring our love of coffee and tea into our passion of gaming because we believe that these special moments deserved—in our opinion—the most special drinks of all. Sharing a big pot of coffee or tea evokes that same sense of belonging that great gaming does, and we'd love to be your source for that.
The tabletop's a big place nowadays, so we always want to remember this idea—in everything we do. One simple step we can take is commit to our Giving Back program. It's simple: $1 of every bag gets donated to gaming-related nonprofits like The Spiel Foundation, The House of Afros, Capes & Curls, Tabletop Alliance, and Tabletop Gaymers. When you click "Add to Cart" above, you can even select the partner you want your dollar to go to.
Nope! For our coffee, a simple coffee maker will usually do the trick. For the best coffee, make sure your coffee maker gets the water really hot (ideally, just off the boil) and that it contacts all of the grounds in your bed of coffee. We offer pre-ground and whole bean coffee—if you don't have a grinder, no problem! In time, if you would like to invest in a grinder for a fresher coffee experience, we have one for sale here.
If you're a super coffee nerd (like most of us are), we love talking about manual coffee brewing in our Discord. However, brewing with a fancy setup is definitely not required.
Great question!
If you're not familiar with Fairtrade, here's a description from their site:
"Fairtrade changes lives by changing trade. We transfer wealth back to farmers and workers in developing countries who deserve a decent income and decent work."
MWT Coffees do not have the “Fairtrade” designation, but we believe strongly in the values of their organization. Their impact is significant with coffee farmers that trade on the global coffee commodity market.
Most specialty coffee roasters like Many Worlds buy their coffee from importers that bypass this commodity market, allowing farmers to get more competitive offers and often set their own prices for the beans they sell. The specialty coffee importers we work with are able to give us greater transparency on the coffees we buy to ensure we’re paying and sourcing ethically, and currently the minimum price we pay for any coffee per pound is over double the Fairtrade standard price.
Store in a cool, dark, dry place (like a cupboard or pantry) for the best experience. Avoid storing in the fridge, as taking coffee and tea in and out of the refrigerator can cause some unwanted condensation.
Yes, to all of the above!
Nope! All of our coffees are "just" coffee. However, we love sharing flavor notes that we pick up in the different coffees that come out due to a variety of factors--where they're grown, the climate, the growing season, the processing method, and our own stamp on the roasting.
Tea
It's an elixir of Earl Grey for your D&D party before an incredible adventure, or a big pot of green tea to fuel your group of bird enthusiasts in Wingspan. Perhaps you're a wandering Planeswalker, looking for a quiet cup of chamomile tea before your next great duel.

All of our teas are loose leaf, so you will likely want a way to strain your tea after brewing. This can be as simple as pouring through a small strainer you have in your kitchen, using your own tea bags, or utilizing something from our range of teawares here.
It's important to use the right temperature for tea brewing. You can use a simple kitchen thermometer. If you're interested in a temperature-controlled kettle, check out our favorite one here.

Yes, to all of the above!
No, unfortunately all the teas have been already blended. If you have a severe allergy, please note that all of the teas are packaged in the same facility, so a small amount of cross contamination should be considered.

Collaborating with Many Worlds Tavern
For every full-size bag of coffee or tea purchased at Many Worlds Tavern, we donate $1 to various gaming-related nonprofit organizations. We've committed to a per-sale basis, so from the beginning (and no matter if we make a profit or not) we will be sending donations. Thanks for participating!
The Spiel Foundation
"The Spiel Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to making the world a more playful place. We believe play is a powerful and positive force. The more we play together, the better life can be for all involved. We want to build a bigger game table where all are welcome. We believe fun is a universal language that unites us all. We accomplish this goal in a variety of ways. We deliver bundles of games to organizations that serve players of all ages (children’s hospitals, senior centers, shelters, halfway houses, boys and girls clubs, schools, libraries, even prisons).
We have delivered a 5-game bundle to EVERY children’s hospital in all 50 states and Puerto Rico AND… We have delivered game bundles to EVERY nationally accredited senior center in the country!"
The House of Afros, Capes & Curls
"The House of Afros, Capes & Curls is an organization whose goal is to connect people from diverse backgrounds and build a community based on a shared love of science fiction, fantasy, gaming, and Afrofuturism, while providing a safe space to explore the artistic literary and historic merits of geek culture.
The House was created as a vehicle for POC to build more inclusive environments to engage around seemingly non-traditional spaces such as gaming, comics, science fiction, media, and technology. We want to ensure that the representation of and consumption by POC is normalized rather than seen as an anomaly. We strive to increase representation for adults and youth of color, create programs that build community and create programming that generates a sense of belonging where the community as a whole can discuss pertinent and sensitive issues using science fiction, fantasy, comics, and games as a catalyst for conversation."
Tabletop Gaymers
"Tabletop Gaymers Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to address homophobia in the tabletop gaming community by providing educational, social, and networking opportunities for LGBTQ+ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer) “gaymers” and allies. Tabletop Gaymers has a variety of programs in support of our mission.
GAYMER and ALLY Badge Ribbons – Attendees at gaming conventions and events are provided badge ribbons, buttons, and/or wristbands to self-identify as gaymers or allies. The material is worn to raise awareness, enhance the social environment, promote open and honest discussions, build a community, and provide opportunities for networking.
Queer as a Three-Side Die – Panel series featuring industry leaders talking about various queer aspects of the gaming industry. Panelists share experiences and lead discussions on gender, sexuality, and general diversity topics in gaming from design and publishing to game-play and community.
Gaymer Gatherings – Social events and activities held for gaymers and their allies. The purpose of the events are to provide a safe space for attendees to network, make friends, and share experiences.
Gayme Night – Tabletop Gaymers assists LGBTQ+ Community Centers by donating board games and providing “Gayme Masters” to teach the games. We work with the centers to help establish a recurring event where their patrons have the opportunity to learn and experience these games, socialize, network, and make new friends."
Tabletop Alliance
"We believe that games can have a profound impact on people. May it be by uncovering a strategy which then shows us how adaptable we can be, thinking outside the box to achieve our goals, learning to be resilient in the face of adversity, or even the simple fact of how to foster great communication with others across difference. To these ends Tabletop Alliance was created to use gaming to enhance the educational advancement of educational and community programs and institutions. We believe that by equipping and developing leaders in these programs and institutions with both physical games and developmental opportunities that we can unleash their expertise for the betterment of others.
The promotion and advancement of education and communities through the incorporation of games into programs and institutions. The Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes for which the Corporation is qualified as an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code"
At the moment, we are not currently looking for new partners for the Giving Back program. However, we'd still love to meet you! Also, if you have one-off donation opportunities that would benefit from coffee (raffle prizes, event support etc), let us know and we'll see what we can do!

Depending on the piece of Many Worlds Tavern merch you purchase, we may have inventory in-stock or we may work with Printify for print-on-demand services. General Questions
Nope! We're all online. One day, it would be really fun to have a brick-and-mortar MWT location. But, for now, we love connecting with all of you virtually!
Boomtown Coffee is a sister company of Many Worlds Tavern. We're best buds, and utilize the same roasting space and many of the same team. Andrew and Chris worked together at Boomtown for years, but are now focusing on bringing their love of gaming alongside their love of coffee. Kathryn was a Boomtown barista before we discovered she was a dice goblin.
