Resinous Forge

Monthly Dice Feature | 7-piece polyhedral set

$12.00
$15.00

The first of our monthly dice set! Each die's 1 (except for the d00) is the MWT cat of chaos itself.

We've marked them down to $12 for everyone as a celebratory launch discount! Starting in March, their price will increase to $15 before subscription discounts are applied.

Cloudstones are inspired by last November's realm, Cloudheim.

Subscriptions open at 12AM EST on February 1 and renew on the first of each month with a new set of dice.

Each Resinous Forge box includes a custom 7-piece polyhedral dice set with Many Worlds Cats in place of their 1s.

Cloudstones • Residents of the city first noticed the sparkling sediment building atop the city's structures several years after Cloudheim's founding. Many believe the magically resistant mineral to be condensation of the city's protective auras and enchantments, collecting like stalagmites might in a cave.

Not bad, not amazing - hopeful for future sets

I decided to sign up for Resinous Forge because I'm a bit (more than a bit) of a dice goblin and I wanted to support a small business taking a dive into a new subscription option. However, I'm inclined to agree with a previous reviewer on a few things:

1. I really don't like that the Chaos Cat is on the lowest numbers on the dice, not the highest; it's a bit disheartening when you're used to icons representing a nat 20 but it's a nat 1. I get the general thoughts behind it because it's "Chaos Cat" but still it's something I wish was different.

2. No lore card or explanation of how the theme of the dice relates to the lore/world for the month. I don't need a separate card for it, but there's plenty of space on the back of the dice box to include a short lore blurb. Maybe future iterations could consider this?

3. Inconsistent inking - some of the dice are perfect and others have thick/thin/missing ink in some parts. I know it's part of the handmade dice world but for the cost, I'd hope for a little better consistency.

Also, I noticed on the side of the box I got, it says "Resinous Forge - November 2024" and I was confused at first thinking I got old stock or something. Honestly, still confused on why the box has November 2024 stamped on it, haha.

And for my biggest gripe that I had when I opened the box:

My dice have barely any variations at all to them - in fact, I thought they were purely beige dice until I saw photos of someone else's set that had a ton of swirls/variations in the dice and looked closer with my phone flashlight. I feel like I got stuck with "beige mom" dice compared to others I've seen, haha.

With all of that said, the actual box and art are beautiful plus the dice are nicely weighted with clean edges, no bubbles/gaps, and feel really nice in the hands so I'm going to keep my sub up for a few more months to see how MWT evolves the product and hopefully see some of the feedback incorporated into future sets. <3

Needs a little work

TLDR: Nice dice but hard to defend. Enjoy supporting the company, but this has me reconsidering.

Packaging is a neat little box with beautiful art, but arrives in the large packaging for Treasured Realm. Usual marketing material is absent. Left feeling like a lot of dead space, a sad little box rattling around like it's been packed by amazon. Missed opportunities for value-adds.

No inclusion of the lore card that inspired this set, leaving the buyer to wonder what Cloudstones are or why they cost twice that of a usual set of dice with similar acrylic swirls. Another missed opportunity to tie in this product with the world or lore that spans Treasured Realm and the Patreon. Even just the original Cloudheim card would be a benefit.

Dice are slightly heavier than cheaper sets, nice clack. Unique font on faces. Still getting used to the Chaos Cat on 1s rather than the typical replacement of the 20s, might generate friction. Beautiful choice of acrylic colors, nicely mixed and varied across the set while still looking coherent and matching the inspirational art.

Carving of the Cat is wide, and shows routing marks. Ink chunky in places. Inconsistent fill line across numbers. Some are shallow, and some have more ink within. For this cost, should be perfection. Hopefully future entries will show more polish.

I love the Dice set and I'm so full of glee to get my hands on a set. Thank you again for the hard work!
